Designed and constructed in 1991, Robert Trent Jones Golf Course has hosted four Presidents Cup tournaments and one Virginia State Golf Association Amateur Tournament in 2001. In 2005, the 150-acre, 7,335-yard, par 72 course required civil engineering design services and support for a two-phase project for the construction of a clubhouse facility and a 28-acre, par 3 golf course. GROUPE was the primary engineer and surveyor for the project located on an environmentally sensitive site, with the 980-acre Lake Manassas as its centerpiece.
GROUPE was responsible for the innovative engineering design necessary to control stormwater run-off for this exclusive golf course, to protect Lake Manassas, a drinking water source for Prince William County, VA. The entire golf course required Best Management Practice (BMP) design. Additionally, GROUPE was responsible for all coordination and communication with the City of Manassas, as they own the rights to the Lake Manassas Reservoir, to ensure proper erosion control.
GROUPE provided the following services:
- Boundary, Topographic, and As-Built Surveys
- Preservation Area Site Assessment Services
- Plans and Profiles
- Erosion and Sediment Control
- Stormwater Management
- Earth and Quantity Takeoff
- Tree Canopy Calculations
- Plans and Profiles
- Meetings, Conferences, and Planning
- Cart Path Designs
