The Multi-Purpose Minor League Baseball Stadium project sits on a 24-acre parcel located within the City of Fredericksburg immediately adjacent to the Fredericksburg Expo & Convention Center. It is the new home of the Fredericksburg Nationals, the Class A affiliate of the Washington Nationals. For the construction stakeout/layout, GROUPE worked closely with the General Contractor (L.F. Jennings, Inc.) to construct the Multi-Purpose Minor League Baseball Stadium on a previously undeveloped parcel of land. The complex project would not have been successful without working and communicating closely with, the general contractor (L.F. Jennings, Inc.), the site contractor (Henderson), the architect (Tetra Tech), the steel fabricator (TELKO Enterprises, Inc.), the turf manufacturer/installer (Shaw Sports Turf) and Minor League Baseball Executive (Peter Kirk).
The project was extremely challenging and had a very targeted timeline. The stadium needed to be completed for the 2020 Minor League Baseball season. Plans were still in the design phase as construction began. GROUPE was responsible for all construction stakeouts related to the stadium. The highest level of quality control and communication was used during the construction process. The GROUPE Survey Department was the “last line of defense” for finding conflicts when preparing calculations for a stakeout. Due to the dynamic nature of the project, multiple sets of plans needed to be cross-referenced before stakeout. Any conflicts or questions were immediately communicated to all parties involved to initiate an immediate resolution and minimize downtime. GROUPE was a key partner in the quality control review of project documents.
